MONONOKE
2019
Brass, transparent tubing

MONONOKE is a two-piece wearable sculpture consisting of a headpiece and an arm piece, extending the body into the space surrounding it.
Constructed from brass and transparent tubing, the work forms skeletal structures around the head and arm, creating a presence that appears simultaneously physical and almost immaterial.
The transparency of the tubing allows the structures to occupy space without completely obscuring the wearer, while their outward-reaching forms transform the silhouette of the body into something larger, stranger and more creature-like.
Created as a work to be seen on stage, MONONOKE uses scale, transparency and line to alter the presence of the wearer from a distance.
