HALO
2020
Gold-plated silver and freshwater pearl

HALO emerged as a spontaneous offshoot during the development of SPELL.
While experimenting with the forms and structures that would eventually become SPELL, Shinzato became interested in isolating one of these shapes and treating it as a piece of jewellery in its own right.
Rather than carrying the narrative framework of SPELL, HALO focuses more directly on form, line and the relationship between the object and the face. Its circular structure frames the wearer like a halo, transforming a simple graphic line into a three-dimensional piece of adornment.
More fashion-oriented than much of Shinzato’s sculptural work, HALO sits between an experiment, a piece of jewellery and a wearable drawing around the body.
